

Dorothy Janet Stephenson, age 83, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. She was born in Beaumont, TX on May 17, 1932 , to William "Bill" Young and Clara Young Vaughn. During her childhood years she lived in NW Houston in Cottage Grove where she attended Hogg Middle School, and John H. Reagan High School. She spent the last 62 years of her life in Pasadena, TX where she and her husband raised their family.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Stephenson, Sr. and by her parents. Her survivors include daughters: Judy Michalinos, Donna Thomas and husband Wayne, Connie Houliston and husband Dane; and son : Kenneth Stephenson, Jr. and wife Emily; her precious grandchildren: Heather and Nick Hurst, Joel and Shanda Thomas, Crystal and Michael Mills, Rick and Sabrina Michalinos, Justin and Lorrie Houliston, Kendra and Jim Crider, John and Amy Stephenson, and Joshua Stephenson; her beloved great grandchildren: Gunner, Wyatt, Ava, Reagan, Brynlee and McKenna; her brothers, Jack Young and wife Doris, Robert Young and wife Ann; her extended family: Nita and Anthony Romeo, Patsy and Vance Buras, Larry and Sharon Stephenson, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Dorothy worked in Sam Rayburn High School Cafeteria the first years it opened. In her early 50's she continued her education by attending San Jacinto College where she earned her Dietician Manager Certificate. She later worked as the Dietician Manager in two local hospitals in Galena Park and Pasadena. She loved to cook and crochet for her children and grandchildren. She loved the Lord and loved her church family where she was an active member until her recent illness. Thank you, Mother, for being a wonderful Christian example for your children and grandchildren and who all serve the Lord.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015 5-8 PM at Pasadena Funeral Home. A memorial and celebration service will be officiated by senior pastor Tim Dulany and associate pastor Lester Hutson on Friday July 17, 2015 at 10:30 am also at Pasadena Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Forest Park Cemetery 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX.
Dorothy's family wanted to extend their deepest appreciation and special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the Vitas Hospice Facility for their compassion and devotion during her illness.
