

Gary Ronald Owens, age 78, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Houston, Texas. Gary was born in Waxahachie, Texas, on February 14, 1947, to Ted Wilson and Gladys Lorene Peacock Owens.
Gary attended Pasadena elementary and junior high schools and graduated from Pasadena High School in 1965. He attended a year of college at Stephen F. Austin College, Nacogdoches, Texas, and was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He was trained as a Medic and, after basic and special training, served the majority of his stint in Da Nang, Vietnam, until 1971. He returned to Pasadena for employment and found his full-time and lasting occupation as a skilled Electrician prior to his retirement. He enjoyed a small circle of friends, watching sports on television, and listening to 60s and 70s rock and roll music.
He was preceded in death by father Ted Owens in 1994, mother Lorene Owens in 2008, and is survived by his sister, Sharon Owens Thames, Humble, Texas, and niece Sharlyn Grace Thames, Bellevue, Nebraska. Other surviving family members include cousins: Cynthia Buck; Vicky Barber; Jeff Connor, Rick Hall, and Kenneth Peacock.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the Humane Society of US.
A graveside for Gary will be held Friday, May 23, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at San Jacinto Cemetery, 14659 E Frwy, Houston, TX 77015.
