

He was born in Borger, Texas to Mary Ethel Tipps and James Marlin, Sr. At Phillips High School, Jim was an athlete and member of the diving squad and the football team. Granted a football scholarship to Annapolis he attended the Naval Academy, later completing his college career at the University of Houston earning a degree in mechanical engineering. During that time he met Anna Lee King of Checotah, Oklahoma and married her on December 31,1955. They moved to Pasadena, Texas where they started a family and he began his long engineering career in the oil and gas industry. Jim loved coaching his daughters softball teams for many years, was active in church activities, loved to fish, hunt, ski, and scuba dive, and was ready to play a game of cards or dominoes at any time. He and his beloved wife of 70 years leave their legacy in the lives of their 3 children, 3 sons-in-law, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren who call him PawPaw. We know that we will reunite with him one day because of God’s great promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ!
