

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jose Martinez, 82, who departed this life on March 17, 2026. Born on February 18,1944 in Sugar Land, Texas. Jose grew up in Pasadena, Texas and proudly served in the United States Air Force and later in life moved to San Antonio, Texas. He loved playing with the Mariachi Norteño which he was a part of for over 30 years. He loved his family and friends and had a sense of humor that was like no other. He will be deeply missed.
Jose is survived by daughters, Elisabeth Ann Garcia, Maria Graciela Jaime (Juan), and Christina Martinez Leal (Jesse); grandchildren, Anthony Garcia, Elizabeth Garcia, Angelica Garcia, Juan Carlos “J.C.” Jaime, Xavier S. Jaime, Divine Rose Leal, Daelene Rose Leal, Devin Rae Leal, Lillian Irene Leal, and Isabella Gloria Leal; great-grandchildren, Aliyah Garcia, MargaretLynette Tyler, Ignatius Tyler, Jaylen Johnson, Azrael Jaime, Natalie Garcia-Medrano, Roy Ruiz, Elijah Winburn, Jayda Bolden, J’Hase Garcia, Kenton Williams, Karly Albert, Christian Jesus Chavez, Hector Daniel Martinez, and Violet Rae Chavez; siblings, Paul Martinez, John Martinez, Richard Martinez, Maria Martinez, Fernando Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jose was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Gloria Martinez, parents, Manuel Martinez and Maria Pascuala Zavala Martinez, siblings, Tony Martinez, Eusebio Martinez, Roy Martinez, Lucy Gallegos, and Manuelita Martinez.
Visitation will be held at Pasadena Funeral Chapel, 2203 Pasadena Blvd, Pasadena, Texas 77502, on April 1, 2026, from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. A Celebration of Mass will be held at San Juan Diego Catholic Church, 3301 Pasadena Blvd, Pasadena, Texas 77503, on April 2, 2026, at 9:00AM. Immediately following, he will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038.
