

Mary "Janie" Nixon, a beloved pillar of her family passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024, in Pasadena, Texas. Born on August 23, 1949, in Conroe, Texas, to the late Marie Syble Denmon and John Aron Harris, Janie's life was a testament to love, compassion, and selflessness.
In her 74 years, Janie touched countless lives with her generosity and unwavering kindness. She shared 53 beautiful years of marriage with the love of her life, Michael Nixon, whose memory she now joins in eternal peace. Janie was also preceded in death by her daughter, Alisha Nixon, her parents, Syble and Leo Batson, John Harris, her sister Bonnie and husband Gene Hayes, her sister Phyllis, and her brother Bubba.
Janie's memory will be forever cherished by her granddaughter, Shelby Pate, and husband Josh Pate, her great-granddaughter, Raelyn, her son, Jerry Sturgeon, children and grandchildren, her sister, Linda, and husband Ronnie Nickerson, as well as numerous nieces, and a multitude of family friends.
Janie's love knew no bounds, and she found her greatest joy in the company of her family, especially her great-granddaughter, whom she adored beyond measure. Her compassionate nature and willingness to lend a helping hand earned her the endearing title of "Nana" from not only her own family but from friends and strangers alike. To all who knew her, Janie's heart was truly the size of Texas.
Her great-granddaughter fondly remembers her as the best Nana ever, a sentiment shared by all who were fortunate enough to experience her love and warmth. As we cherish Janie's memory, her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 2:00PM to 2:30PM at Pasadena Funeral Chapel, 2203 Pasadena Boulevard, Pasadena, Texas 77502. A Celebration of Mary's Life will begin at 2:30 PM. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
