

Hiram Morris La Rue went home to Heaven on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021, one week before his 92nd birthday. He was born January 3, 1930 in Lovelady, Texas to West & Flonnie La Rue. He was one of 7 children, who all preceded him in death. (Mamie, Hollis, Jack, Delma, Ocie and Nell)
He married his loving wife, Emogene Hopkins, on July 3, 1954. They made their home in Pasadena, Texas and was married for 63 years before she went on to Heaven around Christmas Eve 4 years ago.
He is survived by their 3 children (Gary La Rue, Rhonda Doerr and Karan Kowis), and 3 grandchildren (Christina Hernandez, Lydia Kowis, Jeremy Kowis).
Morris was raised in Lovelady, Texas and graduated from Lovelady High School. He spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy before moving to Pasadena to work for Shell Oil Company at their Deer Park, Texas refinery, where he worked for 35 years before he retired. Morris was an active member of South Avenue Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas, where he served as a Deacon beginning in 1965 until he passed. He was very active in the church and did anything and everything that needed to be done, and was always there anytime they needed him. He taught Sunday school for over 24 years and helped with Vacation Bible School. He was a member of the Shell Refinery club, and the OCAW retiree club.
