Jose Victor Linan, simply Victor to his friends or Jovi to family, passed away on March 8, 2012 at the age of 33. Though his demise was un-expected, his passing was peaceful; apparently happening in his sleep in the bedroom of his townhouse, where he lived by himself in Houston, Texas.
Victor is survived by his parents, Romeo and Josefina; his younger brother, Larry; and seemingly countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces in the U.S. and in the Philippines. He is a graduate of Loyola University, New Orleans and his world view is a unique mixture of Jesuit rigor and Cajun joi de vivre.
We have lost a son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, and a friend who was always there for everyone who needed him. We have lost our circle’s early adopter for all things technological; who ironically rejected digital music and had a passion for vinyl records played through tube amplifiers.
The loss of someone at such a young age, with no apparent life threatening illness, is always a shock, and a test of faith, for those who are closest to him. We would like to thank all those who extended their sympathies and offered their prayers. Your support did, and will continue to, help us cope with such a trial.
We would like to suggest, that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the St. Thomas More (Austin, Texas) Mobile Loaves and Fishes ministry would better reflect the ideals that Victor tried to live up to.
