Our mother's 15-month long, hard-fought battle against pancreatic cancer has ended as it began with her profound courage helping her see her family through it. She was born in Iowa in 1930. She and her family came by train to join family already living and working in Paso Robles. She attended Glen Speck Junior High and graduated from Paso High in 1948.
Our mother had a unique blend of traits. She was small in stature but feisty in spirit, the rock that friends and family could count on for support, intelligent with a gift for trivia that astonished her grandchildren, and witty, she had a stubborn streak a mile wide. She taught us how to read, drive and take care of ourselves and each other. She was an awesome mom and is sorely missed by her entire family.
She worked at numerous jobs in her life but her favorites were being a bank teller and library assistant. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, go to the movies, go camping with her family, take bus trips and long country drives, and travel the western states by car.
She is survived by her three children: her son, Wade (Christina) Hatch of Spring Branch, Texas, and daughters, Susan Parham and Lee Anne Hatch of Paso Robles and three grandchildren: Patricia (Cole) harden, Tyler (Beth) Parham, and Andrea (Steven) Petrick and one great-granddaughter, Emery Harden.
As per her request, there will not be a service. Any donations in her name should go to hospice or the charity of your choice.
Arrangements under the direction of Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home, Paso Robles, CA.
