Ethel Gouze McCrea passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 1, 2018, at her home in Paso Robles, CA. Ethel celebrated her 100th birthday in May, enjoying a party at her home surrounded by family and friends.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Karen Gouze DeLuna (Pedro); her grandchildren: Jessica Willhoit and Wes Willhoit (Ariana); and her nieces Bonnie Haase, Kathy Lynett, and Tena Haraldson.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur G. Andersen and Tena Petersen Andersen; sisters Florence Box and Floreine Benninghouse; brother Harvey Andersen; nephew Art Andersen; her first husband of 48 years, Duane Gouze; and second husband of 18 years, Marvin McCrea.
Ethel was born in Badger, South Dakota and lived on the family homestead. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1936 and shortly afterward moved with friends to Laguna Beach, CA. It was there that she met Duane Gouze, the love of her life. They married in 1940 and moved to Westwood and later Inglewood. In 1959 they invested in a ranch west of Paso Robles and eventually moved there in 1966. They very much enjoyed the years that they lived in Adelaida. When Duane passed away in 1988, Ethel moved to her new home on the Paso Robles Golf Course where she lived for the rest of her life.
Duane and Ethel were original members of the Paso Robles Country Club. They enjoyed golfing with friends for many years, in Paso Robles and various places around the United States. Golf was Ethel's passion.
