

Rowland was the son of the late Allen and Mary Tucker and grew up in Bordentown NJ. He is predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Michele Lynn Tucker “Vern”, their son Jorel L. Tucker and three older brothers, Warren, Richard, and Franklin.
Rowland is survived by his children Vanessa Tucker of Paso Robles, CA and Philip Tucker of Ohio, his grandchildren Braylon, Keaton, and Vivian Barnes, his siblings Raymond Tucker of Bordentown, NJ, sisters Jane Tucker McIntyre (Mac) of Browns Mills NJ and Maria Tucker of Trenton, NJ and a host of nieces and nephews including Perry Crawley (Stacie) of Winter Garden, FL.
Rowland graduated Bordentown Regional High School in 1983 and joined the Army in 1987 serving honorably as a Private First Class until 1989. It was during his tenure in the Army that Rowland and Michele met, fell in love, married and began to raise a family together in Paso Robles.
Rowland’s three passions in life were his family, his faith, and his education. Rowland especially cherished his time with his “Vern”and his family loving on his three beloved grandchildren. He exercised his faith in multiple ways including serving for many years at Second Baptist Church of Paso Robles as one of the teaching pastors. Even at the time of his death, Rowland was meeting monthly as part of a men’s prayer group.
Rowland graduated from California Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Science Psychology Degree in 2006 and a master’s degree in psychology in 2009. Rowland worked as grief counselor for over six years at Hospice of San Luis Obispo County (Paso Robles Office) where he made a huge impact on the lives of the patients, their families, and the hospice staff. His director said, “He had a great compassion for people and was great at his work. Everybody loved him.”
A chapel service for Rowland will be held Friday, April 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home, 1703 Spring Street, Paso Robles, CA.
