PT & Alba Hughes are sorry to just hear about Ted's passing. I have known Ted since about late 1992 when he worked for me in Eastern Venezuela when I was a oilfield service company. Over the years, Ted & I met in Ecuador, Argentina. He was a very interesting man, with a lot of stories. We have just today found out about his passing and truly  pay our respects to him & his family!

My husband, Dennis, and I met Ted at the Shandon United Methodist church.  We always enjoyed visiting with him and learning from him.  Dennis helped him with property maintenance issues during recent years and will greatly miss the time they spent together.   We both are saddened that we are just now learning of this loss and were therefore unable to attend his services.  Our prayers for peace and comfort go out to his family.  Ted- we'll see ya later buddy!  We know where you are and we will surely follow, thanks be to God and oyr Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

I met Ted through Bridge Sportsmen Center. I wrote his autobiography, Barefoot NOMAD. We had so much fun writing his book; we were proud of it. I can't help but wish I had such a special gift--a book about my grandparents. I miss Ted a lot. I can't believe he's gone.

We became neighbors with Ted in 2005 when we purchased the property next to his ranch in Cholame Valley.  A few summers later, he asked if we would like a tour and his history of the area via following him on his quad. We agreed, but we were hard pressed to keep up with him as he zoomed up the hills and down the side of mountains. He shared his knowledge and love of the area without hesitation. Ted joined us for many Thanksgiving meals and particularly enjoyed the Tempranillo and Zinfandel we produced from our vineyard (he brought his own cheese). He attended Church in Parkfield and invited us to join him for the weekly service. Ted really enjoyed the Easter sunrise service and invited us every year. He taught our oldest how to adjust the sights on his rifle and how to dress and prepare a rabbit for dinner. About a month ago, I finished reading his book - Barefoot Nomad and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ted led an extraordinary life and was an amazing man! We will miss him - David, Donna, Seth, Sarah and Sam

Back here in Indiana I was sorry to hear of Ted's passing, first from Ken Riedel of Paso Robles and then Marlene Thomason of Parkfield. Ted and I had "lead roles" in two back to back plays at the Parkfield Hall when he and I were both in the Parkfield school together, 1944. That was 76 years ago!  His family later left the Cholame Valley for New Mexico, spent his years in oil exploration both at home and abroad, not to see him again until his return to California around 2000. He came to a lunch reunion and book signing I staged in Parkfield after Pioneer Day 2016, upon release of my book, "Where the Critters Get the Jitters." Last time I saw him. We talked on the phone from time to time. I'll miss him.
