Edward Charles Miller, 74, passed away on January 15, 2025, at Tuscany Gardens in Pataskala, Ohio. Ed was born on May 4, 1950, in Charleroi, PA. He was the son of the late George William and Margaret Bidzilya Miller.
Ed was a man of few spoken words but of so many written ones. He was a kind soul, a talented writer, and a great chess player with a quirky sense of humor. Ed graduated from Carrick High School in 1968 where he enjoyed being in the senior class play and Key Club. He could often be found downstairs in the basement at home dancing to “Charlie Brown” by the Coasters. He attended Penn State University and later Point Park University where he graduated with honors. As a journalism student there, he had articles published in the Pittsburgh Press, including one about his sister and her Shih Tzu “Mop” dog, Genghis. Ed loved words and writing. He filled many notebooks with his thoughts and words.
In 2016, Ed moved to a nursing home in Ohio to be close to his older brother, David. Ed is survived by his brother David (Charlene) Miller, Ohio, and sister, Cathie (David) Shenefelt, Pennsylvania, two nieces, Lauri Leonard, and Stephani Hobbs, two nephews, Matthew (Leigh Ann) Miller and Eric (Lisa) Miller. He was “Great Uncle Eddie” to ten grand nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held for Ed at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home in Pataskala, OH, on Saturday, January 18 from 2-6 PM. Subsequently the casket will be transported to Monessen, PA for another viewing at Robert A. Billick Funeral Home (Marion Ave) on Wednesday, January 22, from 2-6PM. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Schizophrenia & Psychosis Action Alliance.
