A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 3rd at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette with a viewing from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rosedale Memorial Gardens, Payette. At David’s request he will be buried next to his father-in-law James R. Baker Sr. and his brother-in-law Marvin Ackerman.
On June 29, 1940, in Big Spring, Texas, David Allen Brake was born to Thelma H. and Billy L. Brake. David spent his growing up years in Colorado and California. He graduated from Washington High School in Newark, California and immediately joined the United States Navy, serving from 1958 to 1962, in the Vietnam War. His honorable discharge from the Navy was as an Electrician’s Mate Third Class.
Upon returning to California David was employed as an electrician at Frank Electric for the next 35 years. David married his childhood sweetheart Rebecca Ann and in 1997 they found their forever earthly home on the Oregon Slope. He was always happy seeing their land, watching wild and domesticated animals, and forever planting and enriching and caring for their acres.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved nephew Gordon Brake. Survived by his wife Rebecca Ann, daughter Patricia Hagerty (Robert), daughter Kristina LaBarbera (Aaron), son David Jr. (Melissa), grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister Billie Kathryn Janssen, brother Arthur Edwin Brake (Faye), sister Carol Darlene Brake.
