Mr. Aurelio "Joe" Elia, 74, of Tyrone, GA passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 after battling one of the worse forms of dementia that there it. He was surrounded by his loving family when left his temporary home here on earth. He was only days away from celebrating his 75th birthday on Sunday, November 9, 2014.
Joe was born in Sicily, Italy to Anna and Joseph Elia who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Nino.
He was a retired Officer with the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren and working in his garden.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Frances; son, Joe; daughter, Donna; grandchildren, Phil, Anthony, Nicholas, Serena, and Lydia; and his sister, Lori.
A funeral mass will be held for him at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Tyrone, GA at 11:00am on Saturday morning, November 8, 2014. A visitation will be held at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday evening, November 7, 2014.
