

2013. Carol's husband, Edward Lee (Tommy) Thomason, son of Edward and Bessie Lee
Thomason, died Tuesday. April 16,2013. This beautiful couple was married for 63 years. In
death, they refused to be apart for more than six days. They were truly inseparable.
Carol and Tommy were an inspiration to all who knew them. They were both
generous with their time and talents. They loved being with their family. Their love and
devotion to one another was unsurpassed. We will long feel their absence. But we will
,always cherish the time we each spent with them. Tommy and Carol's legacy will live on
through those who loved them dearly.
Their family includes their daughters Sandra (David) Denton and Wanda (Ronald)
Ordyna, son Michael (Lily) Thomason; grandchildren Tommy (Tammy) Denton. Janie (Eric)
Leary, Staci Ann Ordyna (deceased), Andrew Ordyna, Christy (Anou) Sothsavath, Tony
(Marla) Thomason, Angel (Jason) Terry and Andy (Kim) Hu; great-grandchildren Jacob and
Elijah Thomason. Amanda and Brittany Denton. Nolan, Larissaand Nathan Terry.Emma and
Olivia Hu. Theyalso leave behind a loving extended family and many wonderful friends.
Tommy, a member of "the greatest generation," fought 'in the 76th Infantry Divisionof
the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Delta Airlines Pioneers
and retired after an almost forty year career at Delta Airlines. He held a private pilot's
license and enjoyed many hours flying his 1947 Encoupe. Tommy achieved a lifelong
dream in being able to fly after the age of eighty and became a member of the UFO Club
(United Flying Octogenarians). Well known as a mechanical genius. there was little that he
could not fix.
Carol was the epitome of a poised and beautiful Southern lady. She loved sewing,
quilting and cooking up family favorites for every occasion. Her legendary creations were a
true reflection of Carol's inner spirit. Carol loved working with children and served as a
substitute grandmother for many. She taught her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren
the importance of manners and what it meant to be a member of the
Thomason family. Carol was a source of strength for her family- no matter what
happened. Carol loved to read. Historical novels were a favorite - which led her to enjoy
two trips to Europe (including one with her grandchildren). Both Carol and Tommy loved
dogs. They had 0 special penchant for dachshunds who were each definite members of
the family! Carol's lovely and graceful manner was felt by all those around her. She was
the true capstone of the Thomason family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army
or the Atlanta Humane Society - both of which Tommy and Carol supported.
Visitation will be at 2:00 on Saturday, May 18,2013 followed by the Memorial Service
at 3:00 at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home Chapel located at 135 Senoia Road
Peachtree City, GA 30269 (770-631-9171).
