Harvey Mack Fernandez

FERNANDEZ, Harvey Mack, 84, died Tuesday May 1, 2012 at Doctors Hospice in Fayetteville, GA. peacefully following a brief but courageous battle with melanoma cancer. He was bom September 3, 1927 to Jose Ramon and Thelma Aileen (Bronson) Fernandez. Immediately after being graduated from Plant High School, he enlisted in the US Navy, rising through the ranks and retiring as a Lieutenant after a service of 23 years. He next was employed by Pratt-Whitney Aircraft, a division of United Technologies, serving as a factory representative in the United States as well as Montevideo, Uruguay and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and was retired after 29 years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife and high school sweetheart, Laura Doska Halsey; his sister Dorothy Elizabeth Fernandez and an infant grandson. He is survived by his wife, Adelaide Victoria Fernandez; his four daughters from his first marriage, Kathy F. Ashby (Jim) Bluemont, VA, Myrle F. McAllister (Graham) Tobaccoville, NC, Karen F. Dobson (Peter) Columbus, GA. and Laura F. Hudson (David) Norfolk, VA and step daughter Lisa Alvarez (CT;) five grandchildren, Jenny Miller, Phillip Gilbert (Aven), Dana Gilbert, Michael McAllister (Gina), Paul McAllister (Rebecca) and six great grandchildren, Arlo and Samaya Gilbert, Andrew McAllister, Ava and Lily McAllister and Zachary Miller. A Red, White and Blue celebration of life was held on Saturday May 5, 2012 in the chapel of the funeral home.
