

Lestina Stanley Webb, 90, of College Park, Georgia, died peacefully on Sunday evening, October 24th, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hugh Webb, Sr., her brother, Julian Cecil Stanley, Jr., and one of her sons, John Stanley Webb. Lestina Stanley was born in Macon, Georgia, on March 9th, 1920, and moved to the East Point/College Park area at 2 years old. She lived in the suburban Atlanta area all of her long life. She was active in her community and served as an elder in the College Park Presbyterian Church where she was a member for 54 years. She also served as Regent and Parliamentarian for the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a voting delegate at Constitution Hall in Washington D. C. She served several terms as President of the College Park Woman's Club and participated in the College Park Historical Society. She was a 1941 graduate of Brenau College in Gainesville where she taught dancing and enjoyed sorority activities in Alpha Chi Omega. One of her main interests was working with children; for 23 years she was employed by the Fulton County School System. She especially enjoyed her interaction with handicapped children. She and her husband Hugh, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, had seven children. Lestina loved her family and friends and concluded that her life on earth had been one of great joy. She is survived by many loving family members: Children - son, James Hugh Webb, Jr. and wife Deborah Steed Webb of Peachtree City; daughter, Sue Webb Miller of Lawrenceville; daughter, Rosemary Webb Stanley and husband Gregory Stanley of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter, Ruth Webb Childers and husband Terry Childers of Peachtree City; son, Paul William Webb of Flovilla; son, Stephen Joel Webb and wife Cindy Camp Webb of Peachtree City; Grandchildren - Meredith and Henny Holzapfel of West Palm Beach, Florida; Allison Webb of New York City; Krista and Sean Carney of San Diego, California; Jennifer and Daniel Guerra of Houston, Texas; Stephanie Webb of London, England; Tommy and Bonnie Miller of Lawrenceville; Melissa Miller, Melanie Miller and Mary Beth Miller of Decatur; Jamie and Rob Brotemarkle of Cyprus, Texas; Ric and Tiffany Favati of Columbia, South Carolina; Carey and Andrew Giles of Villa Rica; Zachary, Austin, and John Webb of Peachtree City; Great-Grandchildren - John Michael Carney; Ranen Guerra; Mackenzie and Addie Miller; Ryan and Magan Brotemarkle; Mason and Josie Favati; Aiden and Aubrey Giles. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at 11:00 AM at College Park Presbyterian Church in College Park, GA with Dr. Martin Huggins and Rev. Jay Thomas officiating. The interment will follow at 4:00 PM in the Stanley Family Cemetery in Dublin, GA. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA.
