I am grateful to have known Richard for 50 years. My first impression of him was that he was a gentleman and that impression has been proven correct all these years. His wit and his kindness made my visits with Sue a joy.
One of my favorite memories is a photograph that Sue sent me. It was a picture of little LaMonica's closet when she had just arrived. Full of adorable dresses and darling outfits that Richard had bought her. We just knew he was going to be a doting father.
I know that Richard's family will miss his presence but they will always have his love.

Every year around Christmas our whole family was so excited because that meant we got to spend the holidays celebrating with the Morelands. We were so fortunate to celebrate so many holidays with Richard. He was not only the best guest in the world but also the best host. Whenever we came for a visit he bent over backwards to make us feel special. Richard was one of the kindest souls we ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was a consummate family man with a heart of gold. His infectious laughter and smile instantly put you in a good mood. All of our lives were better because Richard was a part of them.

Uncle Richard was the kindest man I have ever known. He taught me how to make the best french toast! He taught me about bring a vegetarian. As child I always looked forward to seeing him. Although it has been many years, I can still hear his wonderful laugh. I know he touched many lives in a positive way and he will be mourned and terribly missed by all of us.

I remember being at Sue & Richard's when I was a teenager & when we got up in the morning, Richard had made breakfast for everyone! As we sat, he pulled out everyone's chair, had the napkins folded and made us all feel so special. Richard was such a wonderful person and cared so much for everyone he was around! He will truly be missed!

Dear Sue & family.
My big brother Richard fought a good fight. He watched over me & Kathy like a big brother should. The Moreland house was my second home. We had many great family dinners & great times together. I will miss that laugh.
Sincere sympathy,
Dayton, Oh

If there was a claw machine around you better believe my Uncle Richard was going to make sure LaMonica and I atleast left with one stuffed animal a piece. Don’t let him be on a roll he might empty the entire machine 😊
