

He was born on September 20, 1923, in Haynesville, LA. He was a graduate of Bossier City High School and Meadows-Draughn Business School. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U. S. Army. On June 1, 1947, he married Bon Ava Barnes in Collins, MS.
Visitation will be held at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl on Friday, January 13, from 4-8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 14, at 10 a.m. at Eastside Baptist Church in Pearl, with visitation to follow in the church’s fellowship hall. No graveside service will be held.
A.W. worked as a grocery clerk and owner-operator, having owned and operated retail grocery stores in Louisiana and Mississippi. For fourteen years, he owned and operated Skyway Hills Superette in Pearl and then worked for RC Rice at Pearl Grocery. He also worked at McRae’s Department Store in Jackson, Marty’s Pharmacy in Flowood, and That Special Touch Cakes and Flowers in Pearl.
Mr. Moore had a God-given gift of encouraging others, as evidenced by his many years of volunteer service at Merit Rankin, St. Dominic’s, and River Oaks hospitals. At the time that he ceased volunteering for River Oaks, he had provided more hours of volunteer service than any other person in the history of the hospital.
Mr. Moore was predeceased by his parents, Arthur William Moore, Sr., and Nora Richardson Moore; two sisters, Carrie Lee Touchstone and Lucille Canterbury; and three brothers, Gibson Moore, Roy Moore, and Jay Moore.
He is survived by his wife Bon Ava Moore; daughter and son-in-law, Ava Lynn and Danny Welborn; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Paige and Jeremy Lewis; granddaughter Courtney Welborn; and two great-grandsons, Truitt Lewis and Trace Lewis; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Merit Rankin Hospital, Magee General Hospital, and Mississippi Care Center of Raleigh who attended to him. Special thanks goes to caregivers Tina, Cindy, Connie, Bobbie, and Karen.
