Bertha Mae Hicks, 76, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Crossgates River Oaks, Brandon. Visitation is 5:00-8:00pm today at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 2:00pm Friday, January 14, 2011 in the funeral home chapel with interment in Lakewood South Cemetery.
Mrs. Hicks was employed with the MS Highway Patrol for more than 20 years. Her hobbies included reading, writing, crochet, dancing, shopping and going to the casinos.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claborn J. Hicks; daughter, Brenda Holifield; granddaughter, Danielle Holifield; and her precious dog, Muffy.
Survivors include daughter, Rhonda Ballard and husband Vickey Ray Ballard of Pelahatchie; brother, Moody Slawson of Sacramento, CA; 4 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her first great-great-grandchild to be born in August; and her beloved feline companion, Bootsie.
