Visitation will be 5:00-8:00pm, Monday, April 9, 2018, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 11:00am, Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Jackson with interment in Lakewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
Bro. Melton was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church for more than 30 years where he taught Sunday School, preached Junior Church and was a bus captain. Self-employed his entire life, he worked in fencing and as a mechanic, and owned and operated Melton Trench and Equipment Parts. His hobbies included fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Betty Varner Melton; son, Charles David Melton, Jr.; daughters, Bonnie Michelle Melton Brewer (Daryl) and Leigh Ann Melton Aldy (Jason); brothers, Gary, Ricky, Randy, Tracy Gene and John Allen Melton; sisters, Mary Ruth Pugh, Linda Davidson, Debra Ann Melton, Cindy Sparks, and Lily Melton; grandchildren, Gary Brewer, Chansom Ringo Brewer, Topanga Brewer, Landon David Aldy, Karson Lamar Aldy, and Brantley Zayd Aldy; and great-granddaughter, Maverick Brewer.
Bro. Melton was preceded in death by his parents, John David Melton and Elizabeth Melton Scott; and sister, Bonnie Faye Melton.
