Christ-follower. Husband. Father. Grandfather. Great-grandfather. Friend. Charles Veston Stewart was all these things and more to those who knew and loved him. His final pilgrimage on earth was completed on June 14, 2021, at his home of 47 years in Pearl, MS at the age of 84.
Charles was born in Ball Ground, GA, on July 6, 1936, to Oscar Veston Stewart and Shelby Inez Drummond Stewart. It was there that he developed and perfected a work ethic that would go on to encourage and support multiple generations of children and grandchildren. His life was changed forever when he moved to Petal, MS and met the love of his life, Virginia Revette, whom he is survived by. They were married on May 25, 1957 and blessed with 64 years together. Their union produced 5 children: Tony Stewart (Dotie), Donna Hughes, Mike Stewart (Peggy), Sheila Holden (Charles), and Rhonda Huffman (Andrew), all of whom he is survived by. He is also survived and loved by 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
“The Lord has been so good, I’m unworthy,” was the theme of Charles’s life, and a common phrase to pass his lips. His life was one that demonstrated gratitude of Christ’s goodness as he worked to do all things as to The Lord. This included loving and providing for his family and living a life of conviction to walk humbly with his God.
Charles was an active member of his beloved church, Grace Primitive Baptist, where the celebration of his life on earth and new life in Heaven will take place, with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021. The funeral will be followed by graveside services at Floral Hills Cemetery in Pearl, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Grace Primitive Baptist Church.
