

Visitation will be held 4:00-9:00pm, Monday, July 22, 2013 at Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon. Funeral services are 10:00am, Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the church with interment to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Mr. Harris served with the Pearl Fire Department for 35 years and held the rank of Battalion Chief. He was highly respected by his peers and colleagues and was a great leader. During his career he was nominated as Chief of the Year for the State of Mississippi in 2012, was awarded Firefighter of the Year for the City of Pearl, was Past Vice President of the Mississippi Firefighter’s Association and a member of the Fire Chief’s Association.
Along with his brother, Dale, he owned and operated Sign Mark in Pearl for 25 years. Very active in the Pearl community, Mr. Harris was Past President of the Pearl Chamber of Commerce, member of the Pearl City Board of Directors and Pearl City Planning Committee.
He was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was also a member of the Red Dog Game Management Area.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his father, L.E. Harris.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Mary Williams Harris; mother, Lucy Harris; son, Taylor Harris; daughter, Magen Harris and fiancée, Brett Stegall; brother, Dale Harris and wife Deborah; sister, Dianne Barksdale and husband, Bill; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Harris established the Pearl Firefighters Foundation, where memorials may be made in his honor to 3603 Hwy 80 E, Pearl Station 1, Pearl, MS 39208, attn: Rick Purvis.
