Dwight Moody Watts, Jr., 77, of Florence passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025, at his residence in Florence. Dwight was born on July 19, 1947, in Columbus, MS to the late Dwight Moody Watts, Sr. and Mary Gene Woolbright Watts. He graduated from Lee High School in Columbus in 1965 and was a 1969 graduate of the University of Mississippi. After graduating Ole Miss, Dwight served in the United States Army.
Dwight was a lifetime salesman having started by working with his Dad in his family’s Watts Furniture Store in Columbus. Dwight later owned his own furniture stores in the Jackson area followed by working in car sales holding management positions at Herrin-Gear and Wilson Dodge. Dwight had the ability to sell anything he could get his hands on.
Dwight met and made a lot of friends in his years as a salesman. Dwight enjoyed a long lasting relationship with several high school classmates who would regularly get together to catch up. In his spare time, Dwight enjoyed cooking for his family, trying new recipes and always trying the newest kitchen gadgets. He also loved going fishing and traveling with his family, often taking his grandchildren fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette Watts; daughter, Missy Huddleston (Glenn); grandchildren, Taylor Hertzke (Anthony) and Jarrett Huddleston; great-grandchildren, Camden Hertzke and Jude Hertzke; sister, Genecile Watts Weston (Bruce); several long time friends and special friend, Troy Boudreaux.
Visitation will be held at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Baldwin-Lee, with interment in Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon immediately following.
