Born August 15, 1939 in Utica, Mississippi to the late L.V. McRee and Elizabeth Buckley McRee, she married Jack Dennis and his military career took her to Texas, Alaska, and South Carolina before settling in Pearl, Mississippi in 1968. Evelyn was a longtime member of McLaurin Heights Baptist Church in Pearl. She delighted in her role as a homemaker, taking care of all the cooking and washing for her six boys. Her meals were always excellent, and Evelyn loved to decorate. One of her favorite things to do was go to HomeGoods, and she visited the beach any chance that she had.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Jack Dennis; her son, Kenny Dennis; brothers, R.L. McRee and Cornell McRee, and sister Lou Jones.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, Keith Dennis (Lynn) and Kyle Dennis (Angela) of Pearl, Mike Dennis of Brandon, David Dennis of Tennessee, and Jimmy Dennis of California; daughter-in-law, Lynn Sistrunk Dennis; grandchildren; Coby Dennis (Amy), Candice Gore (Mark), Justin Dennis (Natalie), Courtney King (Bryan), Haley Mangum (Marcus), Brad Dennis, Becky Dennis, and Michelle Boone (Jonathan); great-grandchildren, Natalie, Hayden, and Hazel King, Wyatt, Weston, Waverleigh, and Wisteria Gore, Sydney Dennis, Linden and Nellie Kate Mangum, and Jack Dennis; as well as numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Arden Hospice (Ritchie, Lexie, LaShonda), Visiting Angels (Frances), and Irene for taking such good care of Evelyn the last few months.
