The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm that same day in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place afterwards at Lakewood Memorial Park South in Jackson.
She was born on February 9, 1935 in Woodville, Mississippi to the late JW "Sonny" Beard and Clara Goode Beard. Frances was a graduate of Central High School and would go on to serve as bookkeeper and secretary for one of the largest oil companies - Wells, Gerald, Waters, and Cox. She also made a career in the modelling industry. Frances was a Christian Southern Lady who adored her role as a Sunday School teacher at Oak Forest Baptist Church. She made many friends throughout life from work, church and as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her downtime could be spent on arts and crafts, working meticulously in her elegant flower beds, or simply dancing to an upbeat tune.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alton J. Mahaffey, Sr; sister, Billie Fae Martin; and grandson, Jay Shannon Sheppard.
Frances is survived by son, Alton J. Mahaffey, Jr; daughter, Donna Fowler; grandchildren, Roy Chance Sheppard, Kristy Harris, Alton J. Mahaffey, III and Derek Mahaffey; and several precious great-grandchildren.
