

John was born in Jackson, Mississippi on January 18, 1943, to Mr. John Clayton Bayne, Sr. and Mrs. Julia Christine Willoughby Bayne. He was raised and lived in Jackson, Mississippi and retired in Rankin County.
John lived a humble and devoted life, grounded in faith and filled with love for others. A proud servant at heart, he dedicated 40 years to the Old Capital Museum and War Memorial Building in Jackson, Mississippi. He took pride in caring for spaces and people around him. He served quietly, but faithfully, always offering a gentle smile, helping hand and a steady spirit.
For many years, he attended Park Place Church in Pearl, Mississippi and was a beloved member of the Special Friends Sunday School class. He cherished every moment spent in fellowship, prayer, and worship. His prayers were beautiful and eloquent, woven with scripture and spoken with sincerity that moved hearts of everyone that heard them. Those who knew John will remember his simple joys, deep faith, kind presence and unwavering love for Jesus.
John especially loved attending church camps at Camp Garaywa in Clinton, Mississippi and Camp Ruby in Kosciusko, Mississippi. These camps brought him so much joy. His passion for collecting lighthouses was well known, he had hundreds of them, each one a symbol of light in his life. He was a cowboy at heart and loved to dress accordingly.
Above all, John loved his Lord and Savior. His life reflected a deep unwavering faith, lived out daily humility, kindness, and service to others.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Clayton Bayne, Sr.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 8, 2025, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, Mississippi at 10:00am. A private burial will follow.
