Visitation will be 10:00 am-1:00 pm, Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. In accordance with Mr. Byrd's wishes, a private, family memorial service will be held at a later date.
A retired ironworker, Mr. Byrd was involved in the construction of the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson and St. Dominic Hospital, as well as many other structures in the Jackson area. He was an avid outdoorsman, and his hobbies included hunting and fishing.
Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Melvina Byrd; sister, Carolyn Elizabeth Byrd; and brother, Clarence "Benny" Byrd.
Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Sturgeon (Hiram) and Jamie Lewis (Keith); son, Michael Byrd (Stephanie); sister, Shirley Smith (Jerry); brother, Ricky Byrd (Rebecca); 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
