A come and go Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl.
He was born on October 2, 1946 to Willie John Taylor, Sr and Mary Evelyn Canoy Taylor in Jackson, Mississippi. John made a career as a truck driver, working for various companies over the years, but most recently with Swift Transportation until his retirement. In his free time, he could be found with the television playing Westerns and a glass of sweet tea in hand. John also enjoyed watching NASCAR; he was a fan of any kind of racing, really. In fact, his younger days often consisted of drag racing in the Jackson area with family and friends. John treasured the company of his loved ones his entire life and had an appreciation for the simple things in life. He was never one to kick up a fuss and was happiest just being with those he cared for most, making memories still just as precious and dear.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Willie John Taylor, Sr and Mary Elizabeth Evelyn Canoy Taylor.
John is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Taylor and husband Alan Harris; daughter, Kathy Taylor and husband Charles Manning; son, Paul Taylor and wife Amanda Taylor; grandchildren, Daniel Taylor, Jennifer Lawson, Andrew Parker, William Harris, Zoey Holcomb, Carlee Shoemaker, and Chloe Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Ayden Lawson, Sadie Taylor, Rayne Lawson, Ross Taylor, Sophia Lawson, and Landry Taylor; and a number of beloved extended family members and friends.
He will be so deeply missed by all that knew him.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.baldwinleepearl.com for the Taylor family.
