Joyce was born June 12, 1934, in Mozelle, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Cullen Joseph Murphy and Vera Blanche Patterson Murphy.
Joyce’s life was one of love and dedication. A long-time member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson, her faith was strong and she treasured her personal relationship with our Lord. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Joyce lovingly cared for her husband and family, striving to set the right example for her children. Always welcoming of neighborhood children, hers was the home where children gathered. And her stalwart commitment and unfailing work ethic earned Joyce many accolades and the respect of all who worked with her during her career of more than 30 years as a seamstress with the Norman Shirt Factory.
In May of 2021, Joyce lost the love of her life when her beloved husband, Willard A. Miles, was called home to Heaven. Joined now in the love of Christ forever.
She is survived by her children, Larry Miles and wife Tammy, and Jeanette Strong; brother, Terry Murphy and wife Karen; sister, Sherry Hodge and husband Larry; grandchildren, Tommy Strong, Ruben Miles and wife Delia, and Kayla Miles Saxton and husband Cody; and great-grandchildren, Meridith Miles, Miles Saxton, Ridge Miles, and Ellie Bet Saxton.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery in Morton.
Memorials may be made in her honor to the donor’s charity of choice.
