Herbert was born February 10, 1935, in Port Gibson, Mississippi, a son of the late Delma L. Jordan and Minnie Lee Hynum Jordan. A proud veteran he served our country with the U.S. Army. Herbert enjoyed a lengthy career as a truck driver. In the early years he was employed with Campbell’s “66” Express, and the latter years of his career were with ABF Freight. A true outdoorsman Herbert’s favorite times were spent working his farm and walking his beloved canine companions, Rainey and Suzy. Herbert’s love for his family was limitless and they were always at the heart of everything he did. Although small in stature Herbert was a giant of a man to many, and the lives he touched will forever treasure his memory.
Herbert is survived by his daughters, Marsha Miller and husband Tony, Patricia Hanna and husband Brian, and Carol Myers and husband Matt; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 7:00pm. Graveside services will be at 10:00am, Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church Cemetery in Crystal Springs.
