A Celebration Gathering to honor her life and legacy will be held Monday, May 11, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl.
Marty was born on June 4, 1935, in Star, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Rex L. Hargrove and Jeanette Young Hargrove.
Throughout her career, Marty found joy and fulfillment working in the medical field, where her professionalism and steady presence were deeply valued. She served as an administrative assistant to the hospital administrator at Rankin General, worked in bookkeeping with Mississippi Home Health, and later became office manager at the Pearl Clinic, working side by side with the love of her life, Dr. Edgar Bobo. Her dedication to helping others was evident in every role she held, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and those she served.
Marty lived a life full of family, love, and simple pleasures. She enjoyed crossword and Sudoku puzzles, was an avid reader, and loved to travel. Whether watching the sunset over the reservoir from her deck, or spending time in the mountains or by the water, she found peace and happiness surrounded by family and friends. She especially cherished time at the beach, where she shared a beloved home in Fort Morgan with her family, creating countless treasured memories.
An animal lover at heart, Marty had a special affection for her beloved dog, Taz. Their companionship brought her great joy, especially in her later years.
In addition to her parents, Marty was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Edgar Bobo; her daughter, Janet Brata; and her sister, Marinell Bostian.
She is survived by her son, Jay Butler (Zaryna); grandchildren, Walker Butler (Lani), Haley Magee (Cameron), D.J. Brata, and Jordan Brata; stepchildren, Jim Bobo and family, Stephanie Bobo, Lisa Bobo, and Diana Cheairs and family; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
