Matthew Von Weghorst

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until 3:00pm, Friday, February 4, 2022, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Celebration of Life Services will follow at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel.

Matt was born July 17, 1972, in Great Britain.

Matt was very much a “people person”. The early years of his career were spent as a nurse with the Mississippi State Hospital- a personal calling that he was truly passionate about. Later his interests turned to real estate, and he began flipping houses and owned several rental properties. In recent years he owned and operated Turnkey Wrecker and Recovery. In each career path Matt chose, he worked to the best of his ability and took pride in what he did, especially when serving others.

His hobbies included riding his Harley, N.O. Saints and LSU football, and taking his boat out on the Rez. Matt loved life and he lived it to the fullest. His family and friends always knew where they stood with Matt- if he loved you, you knew it. And his infectious laugh could bolster even the lowest spirits.

Survivors include his mother, Von Marie McDonald; son, River Weghorst (Marie); daughter, Brooke Weghorst; brothers, Tony Weghorst, and John Weghorst; and sisters, Sarah Woods (Chess), Lisa Tomek Bradley, Stephanie Tomek Foster; nieces and nephews, Ashley and Anthony Weghorst and Ella, Kate, Colt, and Dylyn Woods.
