Robert was born August 14, 1948, in Strong Hope/Copiah County, Mississippi, a son of the late James Lavel Elkins and Anne Christine Hux Elkins.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Robert proudly served two tours during the Vietnam War.
On October 7, 1988, he married the love of his life, his beloved Willie Mae.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert Leroy Elkins, Jr.; sister, Melva Ann Skinner; and grandparents, John Yance Elkins, Minnie Bell Brady Elkins, Floyd Calhoun Hux, and Charlie Ruth Hux.
Survivors include wife, Willie Mae Elkins; sons, Joseph T. "Joey" Smith, Adam S. Elkins, and Clifton Elkins; daughter, Christine Threeton and husband Lenny; brother, James L. Elkins, Jr.; granddaughters, Cheyenne and Kayla Smith.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am, Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Faith Baptist Church, Florence. Memorial services will follow at 11:00am at the church.
