He was born March 24, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force and continued his service to others through law enforcement. Mr. Whittington served with the police departments of Verona, Brandon, and Flowood. Following his years as a police officer he worked for more than 15 years in security with Belhaven College. In his free time he enjoyed his collection of motorcycles and watching Westerns. A true animal lover he had several dogs over the years and he appreciated the bond between a dog and his master.
Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Whittington.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Jamie Whittington; children, Jeff Whittington, Curtis Whittington, Terri Matlock and husband James, and Kelly Skinner and husband Jeff; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and his faithful canine companion, Milo.
Private interment services will be held for the family as Mr. Whittington is laid to rest with military honors at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
