

When Mickey was 2 years old, he and his family moved to Meadville, or as he called it, “God’s Country”, where he spent his childhood and graduated from high school. After 4 years in the Air Force he returned to Franklin County and enrolled in Co-Lin Community College where he played linebacker on the Wolfpack football team. During this time he met Pauline Greer, the love of his life. He loved to tell that when he first saw her, he announced he would marry her some day. They were married in 1954 and raised their 2 boys, Kim and Clay, in Meadville.
Mickey was active in Meadville Baptist Church as deacon and Sunday School teacher, president of the Civitan Club, commander of the American Legion, Post # 40, school teacher and “voice of the Bulldogs” football games.
When Mickey was offered a job as supervisor of Pupil Transportation with the Mississippi Dept. of Education, he moved his family to Pearl where he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Pearson Baptist Church. He was active in community affairs, member of the City of Pearl Planning Board, charter member of the Pearl Education Foundation for Excellence, board member of the Pupil Transportation section of the National Safety Congress, a member of the Red, Red Rose, the Disabled American Veterans, and always a loyal Ole Miss Rebel fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his son, Kim Corban, and granddaughter, Melissa Corban.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pauline Corban; son, Clay and wife Trish of Brandon; grandchildren, Jason Corban of Kalk aska, MI, Kandice and Joe Fiello of Austin, TX, Rachel Corban and Tyler Corban of Gulfport; great-grandsons, Giovanni and Agustin Fiello and Jaxsen Lott; sister, Pat Corban and husband Buddy of Madison; and brother, Ken Corban of Dallas, TX.
Visitation will be 4:00-7:00pm Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 10:30am, Monday, July 28, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with interment in the Midway Cemetery in Meadville at 2:30pm.
Rev. Allen Stephens and Rev. Calvin Williams will officiate. Pallbearers are Dennis Sandifer, Lamar Cox, Lee Holley, Barlow Slay, Edd Rogers, John Brooks, Shirley Franklin and Laura Watkins. Honorary pallbearers are Irl Dean Rhodes, Brad Rogers, Ray Rogers, Tim Hill and members of the Wells Creek Hunting Club.
