It is with profound sorrow and enduring love that we announce the passing of Marcus Jason Franklin, age 39, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose life touched many in quiet yet meaningful ways.
Marcus spent his early years in the San Fernando Valley, where he formed lifelong friendships that remained close to his heart. In 2013, he relocated to Houston, where he built a career in the mortgage banking and insurance industry. Through his work, Marcus was known for helping others navigate difficult circumstances, whether assisting clients in saving their homes from foreclosure or supporting employers in maintaining benefits for their teams. He approached this work with compassion and a genuine desire to help those who needed it most.
Though Marcus was a private person, he cared deeply for those in his life. His friends meant the world to him, and they remained closely connected, often speaking with them daily no matter the distance. He found joy in simple moments—engaging in provocative discussions about politics, keeping up with current events, reading, and watching sports. He especially enjoyed spirited conversations, often sharing perspectives with those he trusted most.
Marcus had no children of his own, but he embraced the role of “Uncle Marcus” with love and pride—to his nephew Ricky and to the children of his close friends. He shared his time generously, including teaching Ricky how to swim and play chess—moments that will remain cherished memories.
To his family, Marcus was so much more than words can express. He was a loving son, a devoted brother, a proud uncle, and a steady, caring presence. His love was constant, quiet, and deeply felt.
Marcus is survived by his mother, Daphne; his father, Ronald; his sister, Danielle; his grandmother, Jenny; his aunt, Jeannine; his nephew, Ricky; his cousins, Alexis, Ashley, Aaron, and a host of aunts, uncles, and extended family, along with a wide circle of friends who became family.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Julian D. Franklin, who passed in 2023. We find comfort in imagining them reunited, together and at peace.
Marcus leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and quiet strength. Though his time here was far too short, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his compassion, his thoughtfulness, his convictions, and the deep love he carried for those closest to him.
