

Richard Curtis Farrington, age 82, of Pearland, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from Alzheimer's Disease. Richard was born July 6, 1939 in Houston, Texas to Curtis Leon Farrington and Elena Santander Farrington. He spent a majority of his life in Houston, with a portion of his early education years in Puebla, Mexico. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1958 and served in the United States Coast Guard. He then received his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Houston in 1971. While finishing his college studies, he taught Physical Education at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School. In 1973 he was employed by the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department as the Athletic Sports Supervisor, eventually reaching the position of Adult Sports Assistant Superintendent, and he retired after twenty-seven years with the city.
Richard was a loving and caring man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In life he enjoyed basketball, softball, surfing, bass fishing, funny jokes, tinkering in the garage, Latin and Mo Town music and all things of Mexican culture. Following retirement, he loved restoring his beloved 1937 Ford pickup truck and was proud to show it off at classic car shows with his friends.
Richard is survived by his three daughters Stephanie Lewis (Roy), Jennifer Wisniewski (Peter) and Allison Farrington (Fiancé Daniel Konieczny); grandchildren Connor, Bryce, Grant, Sloane, Curtis, Adam and Clement; siblings Dorothy Caram, Ed.D. and Phillip Farrington; and many more special nieces, nephews, other relatives and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Elena.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 9:45 AM until time of service. Funeral mass to celebrate the life of Richard Curtis Farrington will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Houston, Texas. Serving as Pallbearers are Curtis Lee, Daniel Konieczny, Clement Konieczny, Peter Wisniewski, Adam Wisniewski, Grant Wisniewski, Joe Caram, John Caram and Hector Caram. Committal service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. (www.alz.org).
