Born July 16, 1931 in Westbourne, Tennessee to George and Annie (Ward) Woods, he married Ina Foust on February 2, 1949 in Tennessee. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons; Alan (Sharon) Woods and Johnny (Elizabeth Susan) Woods, both of South Pekin; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two dogs, Mandy and Eli.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and seven brothers.
Alvin worked as a welder at Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1985.
He had many hobbies including wood carving and woodworking, piloting, building and playing instruments, a craftsman and machinist. He was also charter member of the Pekin RC Airplane Club in Pekin. He loved to be outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
There will be no services. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
