

Born April 27, 1935 in Pekin to Donald and Annette (Storer) Alexander, she married Merle E. Mann on December 18, 1954 in Pekin. He died on September 7, 2008 in Pekin. Also preceding her in death are her parents and one brother, C.R. "Ron" Alexander.
Surviving are two daughters, Candy (Michael) Lush of Morton and Sandra Mann of Pekin; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Jennifer Lush, both of Morton.
A fifth generation resident of Pekin, Barbara’s family had owned Alexanders Bookkeeping and Tax Service in Pekin for 45 years. She had also been a volunteer on the Board of Directors for Normandale Fire Protection District and involved with the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce and the community.
A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, she loved to travel, and had been to 49 of 50 states. She loved Christmas and everything having to do with Christmas. She was also a generous donor to all animal causes. Barbara will be greatly missed by her constant companion, her Pekingese Miss Freckles.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Tazewell Animal Protective Services, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, IL 61554.
