Betty Marie Murray

Born on July 9, 1940, in Monmouth, a daughter of Marion Nelson and Erma Pauline (Fogel) Sims.

Betty is survived by her son, Steve (Joanie) Murray of Pekin; two daughters, Paulina “Lina” (Kevin) Flynn of Pekin, Cindy (Ron) Sarver of East Peoria; one son, Jason Murray of East Peoria; bonus daughter, Cindy Parkinson of Pekin; bonus son, Rob (Stephanie) Friend of Pekin; grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Martiness, Anita (Chris) Brown, Robert Damm, August Sarver, Gage Morgan Sarver, Michael Wotton, Brye Sarver and Shelbi Albertson; 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Faith Sarver; and one grandson, Vernon Sarver.

She attended New Life Christian Fellowship. Betty enjoyed bowling with the Greater Pekin Bowling Association and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pekin. She worked as a shade and drapery repair. Most of her life she was a homemaker. She loved to dance, listen to country music, do word finds and jigsaw puzzles.

Her visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10 – 11am at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory Pekin Chapel. Her funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Marty Smith will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
