Bret K. Lighter

Born on October 28, 1975 in Peoria, he was the son of Kenneth E. and Karen Sue (Settles) Lighter. His parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, Brandon Lighter of Pekin; one sister, Karessa (Larry) Breweur of Pekin; two nieces, Lilyana Breweur and Karlyna Breweur, both of Pekin; his aunt, Dixie List of Canton and a cousin, Kenise List of Bradley.

Bret last worked as an assembler at Caterpillar, Inc. for more than 10 years.

He liked spending time with his family and also enjoyed the company of his faithful dog, Capone, a Pitbull mix, and his grand dog, Rocko. Bret was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly enjoying basketball and football. He took great pleasure in attending his son's activities and sporting events during his upbringing, as well as his niece's sporting events and activities.

He attended Pekin First Church of the Nazarene in Pekin.

His memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Cheryl Sherwood will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Pekin.

Bret Kenson Lighter will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
