Carol May McAvin

Born February 19, 1943 in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Grazier) Story. She married the love of her life, George Henry McAvin, on July 2, 1960 in Pekin. He passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister Sandy Cross.

Surviving are her children, George S. (Denise) McAvin, Georgia Ann Kelley, Elizabeth (Michael) Bier, all of Pekin, Nena (Randy) Garske of Bartonville, Helena Harris of Galesburg and George Henry McAvin of Pekin and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A homemaker, Carol enjoyed camping, baking and country dancing with George. She worked briefly for Lincoln Grade School, as head of the cafeteria. She also worked shortly for Hardees, during that time she was the champion biscuit maker.

Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. She was an amazing wife and mother, she could do anything she put her mind to. Her family will miss her immensely.

A gathering celebrating Carol's life will be at a later date.
