He was born August 2, 1933 in Milan, Illinois to Russell and Sophie (Kohl) Cooney. He married Mary Ellen Montgomery. She preceded him in death in 1973. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Carl.
Surviving are three children, Craig (Debra) Cooney of Pekin, Lora Ellen Cooney of Pekin, Eric (Nikole) Cooney of Marquette Heights; seven grandchildren; brother, Russell (Eunice) Cooney of Lakewood, CO; and two sisters, Dorothy Grove of Astoria and Catherine Cooney of Havana.
Clarence was a US Army Veteran. He worked at Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1985. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Pekin.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin, with Rev. Lloyd Brock officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito.
