Cynthia Kay Nelson

Born August 6, 1952 in Danville to Paul Kenneth and Betty Lou Loretta (Keele) Nash, she married James “Jim” M. Nelson on July 18, 1971 in Pekin. He died on March 17, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are three children, Daniel James (Debra) Nelson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Patrick James (Nicki) Nelson and Theresa Marie (Adam) Bailey, both of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Erin Nelson, Samuel Nelson, Nathan Nelson, Benjamin Nelson, all of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Caleb Nelson of Seattle, Washington, Ava Nelson, Trey (Faith) Bailey, and Zayden Bailey, all of Pekin; two step-grandchildren, Collin Enderle and Maria Enderle, both of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Boston Bailey of Pekin and Layla Enderle of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and five brothers, Mike (Marla) Nash of Florida, Randy (Wendy) Nash, David (Cynthia) Nash, Gary (Denise) Nash and Chris (Tricia) Nash, all of Illinois.

A homemaker and woman of faith, Cindy loved crafting, traveling with her husband and spending time with her family.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. An additional visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
