

Born November 5, 1931 in Oconee to William and Eva Lucille (Musser) Pauley, he married Mary Ann Ray on November 27, 1954 in Monmouth. She passed away August 14, 2008 in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Charles Hoffer; and one infant sister, Helen.
Surviving are five daughters, Julie (Joe) Lambert of Mackinaw, Gayle (Warren) Compton of Selawik, AK, Andrea Eitenmiller of Pekin, Dalona (Rod) Standley, both of Pekin and Jelinda (Vince) Imig of Tremont; sixteen grandchildren, Nathaniel (Heather) Lambert, Jeremiah Lambert, Adam (Charity) Compton, Danielle (Scott) Wallace, Bethany Compton, Caleb Compton, Dustin (Kami) Eitenmiller, Shanda Eitenmiller, Kassandra Eitenmiller, Austin Standley, Chase Standley, Shay Standley, Maria (Trevor) Griffin, Melody Imig, Josiah Imig and Issac (Mary) Imig; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda (Jim) Mathieu of Yorkville and one step-brother, Dick Hoffer of Florida.
Dale was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Pekin and served as a deacon from 1961 until 1985. He also served on the church's board of directors, taught 6th grade Sunday school and was a lay person minister for area nursing homes.
He received his education at Western Illinois University in Macomb, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He then received his Master’s Degree in Education in 1956. He later was a member of the Tazewell County Retired Teacher's Association.
He taught physical education for one year at Roodhouse High School, where he also served as head coach of the football team, head coach of the track and field team, and assistant coach of the basketball team. He later taught senior high school in Moline for three years. He then taught at Pekin Community High School District 303 from 1959 until his retirement in 1986. In Pekin, he taught driver’s education, physical education and math. He also was the assistant football coach.
Following his retirement, Dale worked for Hovind Realty in Groveland as a real estate agent from 1986 to 1990.
A loving father and grandfather, Dale enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, football, coaching, and traveling.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Pekin. Pastor Chris Garrett will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
