

Born July 29, 1949 in Pekin to Orville Carl “Chief” and Charlene A. (Jones) Heilman, he married Peggy Ellis in November 1985.
Surviving are three sons, Beau Heilman of Pekin, Tylor Heilman of Denver, CO and Dakota Heilman of Golden, CO; one daughter, Haylee Heilman of Lakewood, CO; one step-daughter, Lisa Glass of Pekin; one grandson, Drake Elliott Heilman of Pekin; two sisters, Dee A. (John “Jack”) Luft of Pekin and Julie J. (Jay) Hangartner of Celina, TX; three brothers, Jeffrey J. Heilman of Forest City, Todd M. Petri of Pekin, and Brett A. Heilman of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Troy Heilman.
He was a United States Army veteran.
Dan worked as a carpenter for many years in the Pekin and Peoria area out of the Carpenter’s Union. He owned and operated The Work Horse, Inc., a computer programming company and another company he started called Find Diamonds Make Money. He also had worked for Upchurch Trucking.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
His memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Jim West will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.Wednesday at the funeral home.
