

Born January 27, 1932 in Smithfield to Glen and Lona L. (Gregory) Manuel, Sr., he married Bette Lee Smith in March of 1949. She died on February 25, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Beverly Crabb of Austin, Arkansas; one brother, Glen G. Manuel of Smithfield; one niece, Marsha Proper of Canton and one nephew, Mark Crabb of Austin, Arkansas.
Surviving are two sons, David (Gail) Manuel, Jr. of East Peoria and Stanley (Susan) Manuel of Pekin; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and two nephews, Gregory (Sue) Manuel of Smithfield and Roger (Gail) Crabb of Austin, Arkansas.
He worked for Peoria & Pekin Union Railroads for many years, retiring in 1993 as General Accountant.
David enjoyed singing and was a member of the Orpheus Club and Philharmonic Chorale. He also was part of the Hope Ministries, where he rang hand bells during the Christmas season. He also volunteered for several years serving many endeavors helping others and was a lifelong Democrat.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in East Peoria for 48 years.
His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. Inurnment will follow.
