

Born November 9, 1930 in Peoria to Duane and Lula (Heitzman) Pratt, he married Margaret Elizabeth “Peg” Schultz on July 12, 1962 in Bloomington. She died August 16, 2010 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one step-daughter, Peggy Ann Elmore; one sister, Oneita Smith and one brother,
Robert Pratt.
Surviving are one daughter, Cheryl (Jim) Hayes of Peoria; two grandsons, Will (Alison) Hayes of Prairieville, Louisiana and Anthony Hayes of Denham Springs, Louisiana and two great-grandchildren, Carson Hayes and Quinn Hayes.
David had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. as a machinist for 32 years. He was a member of the UAW Local 974 in East Peoria. He was very proud to have served as an original crew member at the Limestone Volunteer Firefighters for over 15 years, serving as Captain and assistant Chief.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Smithville Cemetery in rural Hanna City.
