

Born November 17, 1955 in Bloomington to Marion George and Delta Pearl (Rankin) Sinn, he married Cindy Lou Ertmoed on November 14, 1981 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving four children, Jennifer (Chris) Lepore of Delavan, Janice (Jeremy) Hanshaw of Edwards, Michael Sinn of Rocky River, Ohio and Christina (Jordan) Anderson of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Jack Hanshaw, Julia Hanshaw and Eden Anderson; two bonus grandchildren, Poppy Lepore and Oliver Lepore; one sister, Jeanie Larkin of Pekin; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Ernie (Diane) Ertmoed of Springfield and Jim Jackman of Pekin; three sisters-in-law, Denise (Gary) Nash, Elaine Ertmoed and Judy (David) Cooksey, all of Pekin and numerous nieces and nephews.
David was also looking forward to the birth of two additional grandchildren this year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Susan (Sinn) Funke; a brother-in-law, John Larkin; a sister-in-law, Diane Jackman; and in-laws Ernie and Margie Ertmoed.
David was a 1974 graduate of Olympia High School, where he was also a proud member of Future Farmers of America—an early expression of the steady dedication that would shape his life’s work.
A lifelong farmer of corn and soybeans in Boynton Township in Tazewell County, David also raised 30,000 turkeys annually.
David found enjoyment in collecting miniature toy tractors, a pastime that spoke to a lasting appreciation for the tools and traditions of agriculture.
David gave generously of his time and leadership in service to the agricultural community. He was a longtime member and secretary of the Tazewell County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, served on the Tazewell County Veterans Memorial Fair Board, and was a member of the Illinois Turkey Growers Board for many years. He also served as a member of the Ag-Land FS Board of Directors and was a spokesman and advocate on behalf of the Rail Splitter Wind Farm in Logan/Tazewell Counties.
Those who knew David will remember a man who never knew a stranger—someone who could speak with anyone, and who was never at a loss for words.
He was a faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, where he had served as an Elder, Greeter and Usher.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton. Pastor Jeff Anderson and Pastor Greg Moyer will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
